The Department of Stomatology of School of Medicine was established in1997 and has set up teaching and research offices for Oral Medicine, Prosthodontics, Orthodontics and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. The department owns a sustainable faculty with high academic level, high academic accomplishment and international vision with fixed scientific research direction. The fundamental research on relationship between periodontal disease and general health, tumor in oromaxillo-facial region, oral biomaterials, oromaxillo-facial region related development has reached national and provincial advanced level. The team has successively undertaken national, municipal, departmental and office-level scientific research projects of various categories and has published articles in domestic and overseas journals and conferences. The speciality has a high-level upper first-class affiliated hospital. The Dental Clinic of the hospital is also the affiliated unit of “Hangzhou Periodontal Disease Diagnosis and Treatment Center” and “Hangzhou Oral Cavity Quality Control Center” as well as the affiliated unit of national and provincial resident doctor standardized training base. Through years of development, the department has reached a higher level in term of clinic skills, theoretical teaching and scientific research ability.

 Over the years, the department have adhered to the philosophy of “Diligence, caution, integrity, and empathy; broadness, refinement, thoroughness, and enterprise”, insisted medical-teaching-research integrated management mode. With complete subjects, powerful scientific research strength, reasonable academic echelon, first class teaching facilities and remarkable academic achievements, the Stomatology has become the speciality with highest enrollment rate as the first-choice speciality, high employment rate and promising professional prospects in the university. While guaranteeing 100% employment rate of graduates, the department conveyed a batch of graduates to continue studying for master’s degree, doctoral degree and go abroad for further study. It has become an important base and school for cultivating advanced talents for oral medicine in China.
