Established in 2000, Department of Health Service Management owns Public Service Management (Health Service Management)” (first tier), which is the key and superior speciality of Zhejiang Province. The first-level discipline of public management with “Sanitary Control and Health Policy” direction as the strength and characteristics is the first class discipline (category A) of Zhejiang Province and owns the right for conferring master degree for first-level discipline. The department has established close relationship with dozens of government agencies, medical institutions and fraternal institutions, including Zhejiang Province Health and Family Planning Commission, Zhejiang Province Food and Drug Administration, Hangzhou Health and Family Planning Commission, Hangzhou First People’s Hospital and peer universities. The department is dedicated to advancing the modernization of the governance system and governance in national medical treatment and public health field. It has been the value pursue of the department to cultivate the first class public management personnel who are based in Zhejiang to serve the country, advocate comprehensive health, wellness and medical science, have good political accomplishment, public service spirit, the passion for innovation and entrepreneurship and excellent practical technique in management, and can meet the demand for the reform and development of health and wellness undertakings.
In recent years, the department has been in charge of more than 40 high-level scientific research projects, including key projects of National Science and Technology Supporting and Technology Breakthrough Program, general projects and youth projects supported by National Natural Science Fund, general projects supported by National Social Science Fund, humanities and social science research projects of Ministry of Education, special projects of National Education Science Program, key projects of Zhejiang Province Social Science Program, key soft science projects of Zhejiang Science and Technology Program and sub-projects of major bidding social science programs of Ministry of Education. The department has won the first, second and third prizes (total 5 prizes) conferred by Zhejiang provincial government and more than 10 municipal and departmental level prizes. The students of the department have won the first, second and third prizes (total 15 prizes) in “Renwei Cup” Nationwide Medical and Sanitary Control Speciality Graduates Thesis (Project) Competition and won one second prize for National “Challenge Cup” College Students Extracurricular Academic Work of Science and Technology Competition, as well as dozens of prizes for Zhejiang Province “Challenge Cup” and Career Planning Competition. In the past three years, the employment rate of undergraduates and postgraduates have maintained to be 100%. The department has obvious advantages and social influence with “extensive application field, excellent quality, good skills and quick start in work” in student training quality. In 2016 Chinese College Specialties Ranking released by [Wu Shulian]/[Research Center for China Scientific Evaluation (RSSCE)], the undergraduate program of he department ranked the [17th (A)]/[19th (4★)]respectively among [398]/[329] colleges and universities that offer the program in China and the 1st in Zhejiang Province.
