Institute of Integrated Pharmacy was established on July 7th, 2017. It is Zhejiang Provincial key laboratory, Zhejiang Engineering Laboratory for the Development and Application of TCM Materials and Resources Produced in Zhejiang Province. The institute owns the professional master degree programs for first-level discipline of Pharmacy. Formerly known as the Scientific Research Laboratory of Hangzhou Medical College, it was incorporated into School of Medicine of Hangzhou Normal University in 2002. In 2015, it merged with the Biological Medicine and Health Research Center and was reorganized as Medical Experimental Center. The center has become a public platform for providing services for 8 departments of the school, including Pharmacy and Basic Medicine, and other relevant medical programs and off-campus research projects, and has the functions of scientific research, teaching and social service. The center has a large-scale scientific research instrument with value of over 15 million Yuan and a laboratory with an area of more than 2200 square meters. It has undertaken more than 20 national projects, more than 20 provincial and ministerial-level projects, published more than 100 theses and delivered more than 60 postgraduates. The center owns a highly educated scientific research and teaching faculty team with strong capacity for scientific research. The team is mainly engaged in the research and development in the aspects of combined traditional Chinese and western medicine and translational medicine, TCM, R&D of anti-cancer drugs, pharmaceutical engineering, green chemistry, and biopharmacy. The center has provided substantial services for on-campus and off-campus scientific research and discipline construction. There are totally 10 PI teams have entered and stationed in the center so far, including the first PhD projects and 2 teams of “National Thousand Talents Programs”. The center annually provides scientific research services of more than 200 times for teachers and students inside and outside the university and has made a great contribution to the university’s development of scientific research.
The director of Institute of Integrated Pharmacy is Professor Xie Tian, who is an expert enjoying the special allowance of the State Council, and a member of Zhejiang Province Young and Middle-aged Experts with Outstanding Contribution, Zhejiang Province “151” Talents Supervisor, the first winner of Wu Jie Ping Award in Medicine (a medical innovation prize) in Zhejiang Province, and the winner of Science and Technology Innovation Award of Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation. Professor Xie Tian and his team has successfully researched and developed “elemene liposome series targeted new anti-cancer drug”, an innovative product of Zhebawei with proprietary intellectual property right, which had won the first prize of Ministry of Education in 2008 and the national second prize for Scientific and Technological Progress in 2013. He also took charge of “Demonstration Project of Artificial Breeding of Endangered Medicinal Materials Dendrobium Officinale and Hi-tech Industrialization of Dendrobium Candidum Series TCM Preparations “(a national TCM modernization project), “Elemene Series Anti-cancer Drugs Hi-tech Industrialization Demonstration Project” (a national hi-tech industrial project), “Natural Anti-cancer Medicine Elemene Lipidosome Microbiological Detection and Impurity Control Technology” for the Development of Major New Medicines in 12th Five-year Period of China, “Clinical and Experimental Study of Treating Chronic Renal Failure with Urea Nitrogen Cleaning Fluid” and “Using Dendrobium Candidum Capsule to Treat Atrophic Gastritis” (the National Nature Science Foundation and Zhejiang Provincial key science and technology projects). Professor Xie has made outstanding innovative achievement and produced significant economic benefits and social benefits. He had set a good example for Production-Teaching-Research Combined Work and was called “Treasured Professor” of Hangzhou Normal University by the former provincial governor Li Qiang.
